I did not personally know Nicole Miller. On September 11, I was on Liberty Street in New York City when the second plane struck the South Tower of the World Trade Center. My partner and I, along with countless others, ran for our lives, and were caught up in the chaos that ensued when the buildings collapsed. He and I were among the fortunate ones who came away alive. The same could not be said for Nicole. She and the rest of the passengers of United Airlines Flight 93 will forever be remembered as heroes for their courage in the face of the evil brought by the hijackers on that flight. On the evening of September 11th, in the safety of my home, I came across the beautiful smiling image of Nicole Miller on one of the Internet sites which were providing coverage of the days events. At that moment my heart broke. I needed to do something for Nicole, beyond the usual monetary contribution made in her memory. Her wonderful family has afforded me the privilege of creating a memorial tribute here. Through their eyes, and words, I have learned what a truly precious life was lost on September 11. Working on this tribute has allowed me to put the events of that infamous day somewhat behind me, and it has done my soul a world of good. For that, I will be forever grateful. I cannot hope to ever achieve the goal of truly honoring this beautiful young woman, but it is a task I will forever cherish. God Bless You, Nicole, and may you rest in peace in the beauty of heaven. The world was a much better place with you in it...
